Bergerat RENT relies on Michelin and GCS to deploy its decarbonisation strategy

The 12 December 2024

In collaboration with Génie Civil Services (GCS), the public works equipment rental specialist is optimising the performance of Michelin tyres fitted to its machines and reducing their environmental footprint. A truly global decarbonisation strategy.

Around 15% of construction machinery fleets have under-inflated tyres, leading to overcompensation and accelerated tyre wear . Bergerat RENT rents to GCS all the  tyres mounted on its machines. Thanks to its expertise and regular monitoring  the field, GCS is able to optimise their longevity and reduce their carbon footprint .

“We decided to entrust the management of our Michelin Génie Civil tyres to GCS in order to reduce our carbon footprint, optimise the longevity of our tyres and ensure that they can be traced at the end of their life."

The telematic data, collected via the Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) installed by GCS, makes it possible to better anticipate punctures, repair them directly on site or in the workshop extend their life and reduce the number of tyres sent to landfill. This system complements the choice made by Bergerat RENT to equip its vehicles with Michelin tyres, whose technical features guarantee tit operating performance at a reduced cost.

"By 2022, our decarbonisation approach as a whole will enable us to repair more than 500 tyres for a “new use” that would otherwise have been scrapped”.

This approach is part of Bergerat RENT’s global decarbonisation strategy, which aims to  support its clients in reducing the waste of  resources and limiting their environmental impact, while increasing the efficiency at all stages of the product life
cycle.

“Thanks to cutting-edge innovations in tyres and service solutions, we are able to promote circ ular economy without compromising safety and performance. We are therefore delighted to be working with  BergeratRENT customers, who are committed to sustainable development.
